Streamlined club check-in with VTAP NFC Wallet readers

Viva Leisure powers its growth with VTAP NFC
One of Australia’s top fitness networks, Viva Leisure has built its business on a powerful technology platform that includes frictionless mobile wallet digital membership IDs for its users, and VTAP NFC readers for access control, check-in and more.
Viva Leisure has completed over 100 acquisitions in the last few years. The group incorporates three main brands – Club Lime, Plus Fitness and World Gym – which comprise a mixture of owned and franchised clubs. With a focus on leveraging cutting-edge, scalable tech, Viva continues to expand its rollout, aligning with its vision to deliver frictionless member experiences through a unified, digitally-driven ecosystem.
Most of its technology platform is built in-house by a team of hardware and software engineers. But, when it came to selecting the best technology for reading their NFC Wallet membership ID passes, they naturally settled on Dot Origin’s VTAP NFC reader solutions.
For internal access to gym facilities, the Viva Leisure team chose the popular VTAP50 embedded reader board, which was integrated within their sleek new turnstiles and connected to their access control hardware via an RS-485 protocol converter. For external access doors they chose a wall-mountable VTAP100 access control reader, also with RS-485.
For boxed readers, Dot Origin worked with the supply chain to customise the colour of the plastic case, helping to ensure that the final solution matched the strong branding that Viva has established in the market.

“We’re extremely happy with the quality and performance of the VTAP NFC readers which have so far been rolled out to around 150 sites. We’re now planning our future rollouts for 2025 and beyond and we’re excited to explore some of the more recent developments in the VTAP product line, including Bluetooth and IP connectivity. Our focus has been to use digital innovation and excellence to drive our business vision, and Dot Origin’s technology has proved instrumental in our success so far.”
